Amazon Driver Steals Cat, Charges Pending But Pet Still Missing: Police
Piper the cat had not been returned as of Wednesday.
LAKEWOOD, CA — A person delivering an Amazon package was captured on video taking a customer’s cat last week in Los Angeles County, leaving the owner desperate for her pet’s return.
Diane Huff Medina posted a grainy security video on social media showing the person dropping off the package, then picking up the cat by the scruff of its neck and walking away with it.
The incident occurred Dec. 11, according to Huff Medina, who wrote on social media that the cat was named Piper.

Police confirmed Wednesday that charges were pending against a person who admitted to taking the cat. But Huff Medina posted the same day on social media that Piper remained missing.
"My husband passed away in an accident and we got her two months prior to that," she told FOX 11. "She's been a source of comfort, especially for the kids. She's kind of that lasting connection to him.”

Huff Medina told KTLA that Piper was an indoor-outdoor cat who had lived with her and her three children for six years, and that Piper was microchipped but had no collar on when she was taken.
"This was a horrible act, and we’ve apologized to Ms. Huff-Medina,” Amazon spokesperson Louie Tran said in a prepared statement.
“The Amazon Flex delivery partner in question is no longer eligible to deliver to our customers. We’re in touch with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office to share relevant information with them and we’ll continue to support their investigation.”
