• NID receives $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to protect critical water infrastructure from wildfire (yubanet.com) — Grass Valley’s water supply and airport infrastructure are getting added wildfire protection thanks to a $615,000 CAL FIRE grant for the South Yuba Canal Wildfire Defense Project. Nevada Irrigation District will reduce hazardous fuels along the canal that delivers water and power to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and nearby communities, aiming to prevent a costly, service-disrupting wildfire loss.
   

• Celebrate the Holidays at Santa's Village in Grass Valley (yubanet.com) — Families in Grass Valley can head to Foothills Gift & Thrift on East Main Street this Saturday, Dec. 20, for a free Santa’s Village packed with kids’ activities and giveaways. Every child receives a free gift, and residents are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys to support local families through Foothills Compassionate Care’s holiday efforts.
   

• SYRCL's Wild & Scenic Film Festival Unveils 2026 Official Selections (yubanet.com) — Grass Valley and Nevada City will again host SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival February 19–23, 2026, bringing more than 110 environmental and adventure films plus workshops, youth programs, and an EnviroFair. Locals can already buy passes and even plan a special Dinner & a Movie evening at the Holbrooke Hotel in downtown Grass Valley.
