Highway 1 Reopens After Injury Accident

Three people were trapped in a vehicle that went off the roadway on state Highway 1 near Pescadero in unincorporated San Mateo County.

State Highway 1 is open in both directions after an injury collision that left three people trapped in a vehicle that had gone off the roadway near Pescadero, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was first reported at 8:18 p.m. in the vicinity of Highway 1 and Pescadero Creek Road.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene for at least one injured party. Two additional victims were found outside of the vehicle although it was not immediately clear whether they were ejected as a result of the crash, according to the CHP.

A Sig-alert was issued for Highway 1 at 8:55 p.m. The roadway reopened around 10 p.m., according to the CHP.
