Ceremony to be Held for Jan Barylski

Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Watch on Tuesday announced the death of local volunteer Jan Barylski.

Barylski died of cancer on Christmas Eve, according to the group, which said she was a member of Neighborhood Watch, serving as one of the first block captain's in 2007 for the 600 block of Longfellow Avenue.

Neighborhood Watch and the Hermosa Beach Police Department on Thursday, Jan. 5, will hold a celebration in honor of Barylski at 4:30 p.m. at Longfellow Avenue and the Strand.

Her neighbors and the rest of the community are invited to attend. Attendees will walk to the water at sunset to toss roses into the ocean in memory of Barylski.
