
National Library Week is a country-wide celebration of public libraries, sponsored by the American Library Association.
The event, first sponsored in 1958, encourages residents to read and join their local libraries.
The Hermosa Beach Public Library joined the Los Angeles County public library system in 1907, according to the library website.

The library is closed Mondays and Sundays, but open Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
