Middle and high school students are invited to produce their own five-to-eight-minute documentary films as part of a Time Warner and C-SPAN national contest titled StudentCam.
The deadline for entries, which should focus on the meaning of the U.S. Constitution, is January 20, 2012.
"StudentCam gives young people the chance to share their opinions with C-SPAN’s national viewing audience," said C-SPAN Vice President of Education Joanne Wheeler in a press release. "The Constitution is always timely, even more so in this political year, which is why we’re asking students to critically examine the document that forms the foundation of American government."

Time Warner Cable’s Government Relations Regional Vice President Deane Leavenworth added, "This year, students will have the opportunity to produce a documentary focusing on The Constitution and You, and may select any provision of the U.S. Constitution to create a video illustrating why it’s important to the individual. Time Warner Cable is honored to partner with C-SPAN on this important topic."
The Grand Prize winner with the best overall entry will be awarded $5,000, with multiple cash prize awards of $250, $500, $750, $1,500, and $3,000 to students in both middle and high school categories.
