Bacteria Advisory Issued For Hermosa Beach
The Los Angeles County Department of Health cautions residents before swimming or surfing along the coast.
HERMOSA BEACH, CA — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a water advisory due to unsafe levels of bacteria in ocean waters in some Los Angeles County beaches, including Hermosa Beach.
The City of Los Angeles, Environmental Monitoring Division collects samples one to five times a week from various sites year-round. On Thursday the division found the ocean water in Hermosa Beach exceeded state standards for bacterial levels.
The department of public health discourages swimming in the water at the Hermosa Beach Pier because it may cause illness.

RAT Beach at Malaga Creek near Torrance and Palos Verdes is closed as a result of a sewage spill that occurred on Sept. 7.
Signs cautioning the public will be up at the beaches. To view a map of the locations visit the LA County Department of Public Health website. The map will be updated when conditions change and the water is found to be safe to swim, surf and play in again.
