Body of Hermosa Beach Woman Washes Ashore After Apparent Drowning

HERMOSA BEACH, CA -- The body of a woman who was found on the shore of Hermosa Beach early Friday morning was identified as a missing swimmer.

Margaret Brinker-Brown, 71, was identified Friday afternoon by the coroner's office. Her family had reported her missing at around the same time she was found, police said.

She was found around 12:30 a.m. still wearing her bathing suit, police said. Police do not suspect any foul play and suspected she might have drowned.

Avid swimmers have been known to swim in the ocean even in turbulent weather, police said.
