Social Calendar: Events to Hit Hermosa Beach

From beach volleyball tournaments to a night in the ballpark, a list of special events that were previously approved by the Hermosa Beach Parks and Recreation Commission were brought before the City Council .

The local happenings needed the council's stamp of approval before they could officially plan to take place in town. The council unanimously decided to approve city staffer's recommendation (see accompanying report under photo.)

The events include:

•  to take place in April;
• Shape magazine's summer beach tour to take place in June;
• to take place in July;
• Thanksgiving turkey trot run/walk to take place in November;
• Project Touch's Sand and Strand race to take place next month;
• Walk for Water to take place in March;
• USA Volleyball's to take place in April;
• Hermosa Beach Little League's to take place in April;
• volleyball to take place in April, July, and September;
• to take place in May;
• Four-man volleyfest to take place in May;
• to take place in June;
• Amateur Athletic Union beach volleyball to take place in June, July and August;
• USA Volleyball's to take place in July;
• A movie in the park to take place in August;
• Richstone Pier-to-Pier walk to take place in April;
• Beach Cities adult tennis championships to take place in June;
• G.I. Joe Pier-to-Pier walk/run to take place in March, June, and November;
• West Coast beach tennis tournaments to take place in March, April, August, September and October;
• California beach volleyball tournaments to take place in March, April, May, August, and September;
• Hermosa Beach junior and novice tennis tournaments to take place in November.
