City Council Candidates Debate

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce announces:

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will be sponsoring a forum of the candidates running for Hermosa Beach City Council in the upcoming Nov. 8 municipal election.

The forum will feature the four candidates for City Council answering questions about their vision for the future of Hermosa Beach and business in the city.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • Fiscal and budgetary policy
  • Developing and retaining businesses in Hermosa Beach
  • Business tax structure
  • City services for businesses and residents
  • Long term financial viability of the City of Hermosa Beach

Candidates for City Council include Michael DiVirgilio, Hany Fangary, Stephen Power and Peter C. Tucker.

In addition to the City Council candidates, the candidates for Treasurer, David A. Cohn and John Workman, and City Clerk, Elaine Doerfling, will be invited to give a short statement about their positions and policy.    

The public is welcome to attend and questions will be solicited from the audience for the forum.  

The debate will be broadcast on Verizon channel 31 and Time Warner channel 8 after the event.   

There will be a no host bar and a light buffet will be served.
