Fire Weather Watch In Effect In Hermosa Beach

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Hermosa Beach residents Wednesday were warned to look out for fires as gusty winds and low humidity hit the Los Angeles County area.

The fire weather watch warning was issued Wednesday through Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. A Fire Weather Watch indicates that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

"If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property," the NWS reports.

Santa Ana winds are expected to form over most of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, the agency said. Wind gusts are expected to reach 30 and 45 mph. Warm, dry air is likely, with humidities lowering below 10 percent over much of the area.

People are advised to listen for upcoming forecasts and possible red flag warnings.

"This is the time to get set with assembling your emergency supply kit and knowing your evacuation route," officials said.
