The coffee company Starbucks announced Monday that it in Southern California by the end of the year. "As our customers transition from work to home, many are looking for a warm and inviting place to unwind and connect with the people they care about," said Clarice Turner, Starbucks' senior vice president for U.S. Operations.

Ex-Hermosa man's tax case

A former resident of Hermosa Beach for failing to report nearly $1 million of income on his tax returns. Joseph Ford Proctor, 66, raised money from investors and then wired it all to personal bank accounts used by his wife, according to authorities.

State of the Union on Patch

City Manager to retire

Hermosa Beach City Manager Steve Burrell on Tuesday announced that . "I’ve been proud to serve the city, and I appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to work with an outstanding city staff that has made possible the many successes we have enjoyed over the past 18 years," Burrell said in a statement.

Council talks cupcake shop

Frosted Cupcakery in the Bijou building on Hermosa Avenue, where Coffee Bean formerly sat. The bakery requested permission from the City Council on Tuesday to make some alterations to a portion of the building in preparation for the possible move.
