Local Restaurants Celebrate Fathers

Whether Dad wants to celebrate with a cause, eat exotic cuisine, or watch the World Cup, he can do it all on Pier Avenue.

Pier Avenue bistros are preparing to open early with lunch specials on Sunday in celebration of Father's Day.

Sangria will be offering a new lunch menu, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and donating a percentage of Sunday's revenue to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Television sets will air the Angels-Cubs and Padres-Orioles baseball games during the special event. 

But if Dad prefers to watch the World Cup games, take him toPatrick Molloys. The popular hangout opens at 9 a.m. for breakfast and airs sporting events throughout the day on 21 different flat screen TVs.

Fritto Misto will open at 11:30 a.m. to serve families hoping to savor an Italian Father's Day brunch. If Dad can't decide what to order from the menu, he'll be able to "build his own pasta" dish. 

The New Orleans Cajun Cafe begins serving lunch at 12 noon if gumbo is more Dad's style. From deep-fried frog legs to cajun catfish, the cafe will spice up any Father's Day.

And for a more subtle meal, French eatery Creme de la Crepe will be serving Bretagne-inspired cuisine all day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant advises to call ahead for large party reservations.
