Hermosa Beach might be known as one of the top places in the country for young, wealthy singles to hang out, .
But the seaside beach town is also known for strong family ties, finding longlasting romance, and love for community.
In celebration of upcoming Valentine's Day, here are four examples of those three kinds of love right here in the Hermosa Beach area:

Former Mira Costa High School quarterback Dennis Falcone, who spent two years in an orphanage in Russia, found a home, family and beloved sport here in the Beach Cities. Falcone and his family shared their story with Patch two years ago.
Romance
Raman Kaler and Kurt Fredlund met at (which is now Abigaile) in 2009. Ever since, the couple documented their life together in a scrapbook, which Fredlund used to surprise Raman with an engagement ring, they told Patch.
"I had no idea he was going to propose," Kaler said. "No idea."
All it took was a scoop of gelato for Hermosa Beach residents and active community members Brittny and Graham Burford to turn a friendship into a whirlwind of romance. The couple told their story to Patch two years ago.
"Good things happen to good people and when you stop looking, that's when you'll find love," Graham said.
Love for community
Hermosa Beach resident Corinne Ybarra, a told Patch in October that she has always loved her community, and was grateful when her neighbors showed their love for her during a time of need—she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"I love my community. You know, it made [Hermosa Beach] a part of me when I knew I survived such an ordeal and I was met with open arms," she said.
