
The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council City Services Committee will have a clean-up and re-planting day at the Arroyo Seco Library 6145 N Figueroa on Saturday Feb. 5, at 9:00 am. HHPNC Director-at-Large Trish Gossett spearheads this first step in rehabilitation our beautiful library, with the help of Councilman Ed P. Reyes of Council District 1.
On Monday Jan 31, 2011, Lynette Kampe, Executive Director of the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wildflowers and Native Plants, conducted a detailed examination of the library planting areas, and made recommendations for the plantings on Saturday.
Neighborhood Council Board members, and community volunteers, will all help with the work. Willie Nishizawa, the original landscape architect for the library will join the restoration. Any gardeners interested in revitalizing the library are welcome.

6:00 am-8:30 am: pressure washing of the area by Scout Master and HHPNC Vice President Rick Marquez, with Boy Scout troop 2002.
8:30 am -9:00 am: coffee and doughnuts, and Introductions to City Councilman Ed P. Reyes, Dora Suarez, Head Librarian, of the Arroyo Seco Library, Martin Gomez, City Librarian, Sylvia Galan-Garcia Northeast Library Manager, and Willie Nishizawa, landscape architect.

9:00 am- 10:00 am: weeding and pruning.
10:00 am- noon: planting
