Active Shooter Report At Hollywood High Bogus: LAPD

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Another false report of a campus shooting prompted a police response Friday morning - this time at Hollywood High School.

The report of a shooting at the 1521 North Highland Avenue campus came in around noon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers rushed to the scene and searched the campus, concluding the call was bogus, said LAPD Officer Tony Im.

"There is no evidence of a shooting," he said. "Whenever this happens, we have to take it seriously. We have to respond.

It's been happening a lot lately - multiple times a week in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Another bogus shooting report at University High School in West Los Angeles on Wednesday forced a lockdown and hours-long investigation. It prompted a response from the school district.

"Non-credible school hoaxes are a serious offense that Los Angeles Unified takes seriously," according to the district. "Threats disrupt the educational environment, increase stress levels and interfere with law enforcement's ability to protect schools from real dangers. It also poses a serious risk to our community, draining resources and occupying the time of critical first responders."
