Angela Lansbury Dies at Age 96: See Her Life in Photos

Angela Lansbury passed away at the age of 96 years old, but her memorable acting career cements her as an icon for generations to come.

HOLLYWOOD โ€” Angela Lansbury, who played crime novelist Jessica Fletcher in the long-running TV series โ€œMurder, She Wrote,โ€ has died at the age of 96 years old. Lansbury passed away on Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles, according to a statement from her three children. The British actress was only five days shy of her 97th birthday.

Lansbury's career spanned 75 years that included beloved musicals on Broadway, like โ€œMameโ€ and โ€œGypsyโ€ to singing the theme song for the animated movie โ€œBeauty and the Beastโ€ as the beloved Mrs. Potts. She was even made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II.
The actress won five Tony Awards for her Broadway performances and a lifetime achievement award. She earned three Academy Award nominations for films, โ€œGaslightโ€ (1945) and โ€œThe Picture of Dorian Grayโ€ (1946),โ€œThe Manchurian Candidateโ€(1962).
