Rob Reiner's Son Arrested After Parents Found Dead In LA Home: Reports

LOS ANGELES, CA — Legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home, The New York Post reported Sunday. Nick Reiner, 32, the couple's son, has been taken into custody, according to multiple sources, including NBC News and CNN.

NBC News, citing two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation, reports Nick Reiner is being held in connection with the slayings. According to CNN, the specific charges are unclear: He is facing a felony charge with a $4 million bail.

Online jail records show he was booked by Los Angeles police and remained in jail on Monday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed they found a man and woman, ages 78 and 68, matching the ages of Reiner and his wife, at the home when paramedics responded to the Chadbourne Avenue home around 3:30 p.m., NBCLA reported. The Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide Division was assigned to the case.

A statement issued by the Reiner family was published by Variety, saying "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Reiner is known for his roles in “All in the Family,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” and directing classics such as the mocumentary “This is Spinal Tap,” "When Harry Met Sally," "Stand By Me," "A Few Good Men," and "The Princess Bride."

Reiner turned 78 in March.

Messages to his representatives were not immediately returned Sunday night.

The son of comedy legend Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner has been married to photographer Michele Singer Reiner since 1989. The two met while he was directing “When Harry Met Sally” and have three children together.

Reiner was previously married to actor-director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. He adopted her daughter, Tracy Reiner. Carl Reiner died in 2020 at age 98 and Marshall died in 2018.
