Brush Fire Burns In Hollywood Hills

Several homes were threatened by the blaze, authorities said.

LOS ANGELES — A vehicle fire led to flames burning through brush in Hollywood Hills toward hillside homes Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

Air and ground resources from both the Los Angeles city and county fire agencies responded around 6:40 p.m. to the blaze in the 2100 block of North Sunset Plaza Drive, authorities said. About a quarter-acre of heavy vegetation was burning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Shelter-in-place orders were issued for Genasys zones LFD-0817, LFD-0819 and LFD-0911, authorities said, but the orders were lifted by 8:10 p.m.

Several homes were threatened, but no other cars or structures were involved in the blaze, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz. No injuries were reported.

“We had fire creeping up on several homes, but we’ve made water drops," Lantz said. “There was a lot of smoke, and it was in-between a lot of houses."

As of 7:30 p.m., all active flames were extinguished and forward progress of the blaze was stopped, according to the department, which said helicopters would continue water drops between homes to cool hotspots and crews would begin working toward 100 percent containment.
