Brushfire Scorches Hillside Above Hollywood Bowl
A small brush fire scorched the hillside about 100 feet above the Hollywood Bowl Monday night.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The Hollywood Hills got off to an early start to the so-called fire season Monday when the hillside above the Hollywood Bowl was scorched in a small brush fire.
The fire burned a quarter of an acre about 100 feet up from the famed venue at the 2300 block of North Highland Avenue. Crews were called to the scene at about 9:50 p.m. Monday. Battling a fire moving up a steep hill, firefighters used a wagon battery to halt the blaze, said fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Crews remained on scene overnight to mop up hotspots.
