Community Members Help Deputies ID 73-Year-Old Suspected In Fountain Avenue Hit-And-Run Death
With the public's help, police were able to identify the person suspected in a collision that killed a 27-year-old cyclist, deputies said.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — With the public's help, police were able to identify a 73-year-old man as the person suspected in a hit-and-run collision that killed a 27-year-old man riding a bicycle in West Hollywood last week.
The man, identified by the Medical Examiner's office as Blake Adam Ackerman, was struck by a BMW sedan at around 9:45 p.m. Thursday on Fountain Avenue near Gardner Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Ackerman was riding west on Fountain when he was struck by the car, which was traveling in the same direction. The BMW, which was suspected to have a smashed windshield on the passenger side as a result of the crash, did not stop, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators said tips from community members and witnesses helped them identify the vehicle and the driver, Douglas Morton Adams, who was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death, deputies said.
Adams was released on $50,000 bond, according to jail records.

"Due to the help from the community of West Hollywood and all the other good Samaritans that stayed to help with this accident, we were able to identify the driver," officials said in a release. "There are many other factors regarding this collision that are still under investigation."
