LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department is holding a series DUI checkpoints throughout the city from Friday through Sunday.

From South Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley, police will be looking for drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol.

"The DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and arrests," the LAPD announced. "The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by educating drivers on the perils of DUI and by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road."
