Ex-Roommate Who Killed Dog In Home Break-In Arrested: Authorities

A man suspected of breaking into a West Hollywood home and killing a pet dog has been arrested.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man suspected of breaking into a West Hollywood home and killing a pet dog has been arrested.

The suspect, Anmol Bhatia, 27, is the dog owner's former roommate, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Over the weekend, Bhatia had been described as a person of interest by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which released home security video of a suspect entering the home on the 1200 block of Harper Street at around 11:35 p.m. on Sept. 4, according to deputies.

The Sheriff's Department publicly identified Bhatia has a person of interest in the case over the weekend, when it released a poster that included his photo along with the surveillance video. (LASD)

"Bhatia entered the residence without permission. Upon entry, Bhatia abused the victim's dog until it became unresponsive. The dog was found deceased by responding deputies," deputies wrote.

The footage shows a masked person entering the apartment and jog toward the small dog, then attack the dog until it stops moving, according to authorities.

Deputies also believe he stole items from the apartment.

Bhatia was taken into custody at around 7 p.m. Sunday near Wilshire Boulevard and Elm Drive, KTLA reported. He is being held without bail, according to jail records.
