Fire Tears Through Hollywood Home
Firefighters worked for more than an hour to battle a stubborn fire that destroyed a two-story home in Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — After battling flames for more than an hour, crews knocked down a blaze that tore through a vacant two-story house in Hollywood Tuesday evening.
No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 7:11 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Bronson Avenue, between Santa Monica and Sunset boulevards, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Eighty-five firefighters responded to the blaze and kept it from spreading to nearby structures after it ignited some ornamental vegetation surrounding the home, Bastman said.

"Crews then transitioned into a defensive operation due to holes in the first floor of the home until the bulk of the fire was extinguished, allowing entry back into the house for final knockdown," she said.
The cause and monetary loss were not immediately determined, Bastman said.
