Husband Killed, Dismembered Wife After Argument About Her Postpartum Weight: Police

A Los Angeles man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife, according to reports.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of his wife, whose dismembered body was found in a Hollywood apartment this month.

Jonathan Renteria, 25, was arrested on Sept. 11 and booked the following day. He is being held in lieu of $4 million bail, according to sheriff's inmate records. He is charged with murder and mutilation of human remains, ABC 7 reported.

Authorities claim Renteria killed his wife, 37-year-old June Bunyan, who moved to the U.S. from Scotland to work as a lawyer.

Bunyan was last seen alive on Sept. 4, and the next day, Renteria was seen on his way to drop off the couple's 1-month-old child at his parents' house while carrying trash bags filled with unknown contents.

Renteria, who was found in a Ventura County hotel room suffering from a bloody arm injury, allegedly confessed to killing his wife during an argument in their Franklin Avenue apartment about her postpartum weight, ABC 7 reported.

Deputies found a handwritten note from Renteria that said he had killed his wife, CBS Los Angeles reported.

A Gofundme has been set up to raise money to transport Bunyan's remains to the U.K. and pay for her funeral expenses.
