Need something else to be excited about besides May flowers? Here are the most-anticipated movies coming to a theater near you this month.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (May 5) — Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, directed by James Gunn
The unlikely band of colorful space heroes from the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” reunite for another epic adventure — Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voice of Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voice of Vin Diesel). “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” (May 12) — Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Jude Law, directed by Guy Ritchie

From Guy Ritchie, the visionary director of 2009 “Sherlock Holmes,” comes the highly stylized retelling of the classic legend of “King Arthur.” Starring Charlie Hunnam (“The Lost City of Z”) as the man with the Excalibur, this latest iteration promises to deliver a spectacle that is massive, action-packed and visually thrilling.

“The Wall” (May 12) — Aaron Taylor-Johnson, John Cena, directed by Doug Liman
A taut war thriller, “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena as two American soldiers caught in a high-tension standoff against a mysterious lethal sniper. What’s most intriguing about the movie? Nearly all of the action and dialogue sequences take place in one location with a stone barrier separating the two opposing forces.

"Alien: Covenant" (May 19) — Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender
While Ridley Scott's 2012 "Prometheus" left audiences baffled, the latest chapter in his sci-fi horror franchise is more on-point, with the crew of a spaceship discovering a seemingly beautiful universe populated by a cluster of mysterious lifeforms. Set as a prequel to the 1979 original "Alien," "Covenant" has a new heroine, Daniel (Katherine Waterston), who looks and acts like Sigourney Weaver's iconic character, Ripley. Joining Waterston is the star of "Prometheus," Michael Fassbender, who portrays dual roles in the movie.

“Baywatch” (May 26) — Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, directed by Seth Gordon
“Baywatch,” the iconic 1990s TV series, makes its big-screen debut. The film version follows the story of an unlikely pair of lifeguards (Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron) who uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay. Fans of the TV show will be thrilled to see Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff do their cameo roles.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (May 26) — Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg
In “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” life and death take center stage. In this fifth installment, Captain Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is pitted against an army of undead pirate hunters led by Captain Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem). Also returning to the franchise are Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. Altogether, expect wit, action, fun and humor.
