Ridley Scott returns to helm "Covenant," the latest chapter of his "Alien" franchise. Set as a sequel to his 2012 "Prometheus," the sci-fi horror movie follows a new spaceship on a mission to a distant planet. "Covenant" has a new heroine, scientist Daniel (Katherine Waterston), who looks and acts like Sigourney Weaver’s iconic character from the original film, 1979's "Alien." Joining Waterston is the star of "Prometheus," the fascinating Michael Fassbender, who portrays dual roles.

See it. Check out Patch’s full review of all the chills and thrills.

"Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul" — Jason Drucker, Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett Scott, directed by David Bowers

"The Long Haul" reboots the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" franchise, which is based on Jeff Kinney’s popular kids' novels. Directed by David Bowers, it's the story of a family vacation that goes awry when 12-year-old Greg (Jason Drucker) tries to save his reputation from an embarrassing viral video. "The Long Haul" has its share of fun and laughs, but none of them necessarily make it worth your 90 minutes.

Skip it. This road trip movie is bumpy and lacks the spark of its three predecessors. Watch the 2010 “Diary of a Wimpy Kid" instead, the best film in the series.

"Everything, Everything" — Amandla Stenberg, Nick Robinson, directed by Stella Meghie

Oh, the sweet feeling of falling in love for the first time. This drama is all about the magic of young romance, but Maddy (Amandla Stenberg) and the boy next door (Nick Robinson) have to deal with an illness that makes her allergic to almost everything. What are they to do? Maddy decides to risk everything for love and everything else life has to offer. A film adaptation of Nicola Yoon's young adult novel of the same name, "Everything, Everything" is full of clichés and silliness, but it'll win your heart.

See it. Stenberg and Robinson are amazing. Plus, aren’t you just a bit curious about the ending?
