Friendship, female-bonding, and plenty of mayhem can be found in this chick flick about five college friends (Johansson, McKinnon, Kravitz, Bell and Glazer) who reunite in Miami for a wild Bachelorette weekend. Let the shenanigans ensue. Some of the comedy falls flat, but there's magnificent chemistry between these leading ladies and enough laughs to warrant a ticket.

See it. 101 minutes of “Rough Night” isn’t actually that rough after all.

“Cars 3” — Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, directed by Brian Fee

On your mark. Get set. Go! “Cars 3” is keeping the iconic franchise cruising after the first two sadly stalled. Owen Wilson returns to his voice role as the red hot-rod Lightning McQueen. Directed by Brian Fee, “Cars 3” sees this champion being challenged by a new generation of high-tech speedsters.

See it. Although the screenplay lacks originality, “Cars 3” has enough gas to keep you entertained.

“The Book of Henry” — Naomi Watts, Jaeden Lieberher, Jacob Tremblay, directed by Colin Trevorrow

Director Colin Trevorrow’s latest feature, “The Book of Henry,” centers around Susan (Watts) as she's raising her two young sons, 11-year-old Henry (Lieberher) and his little brother Peter (Jacob Tremblay). Along the way, she discovers a detailed plan to save the girl next-door from her abusive stepfather in one of Henry’s books. The screenplay is inventive, original and intriguing. Plus, Watts, Lieberher and Tremblay deliver incredible performances.

See it. But be prepared to be blindsided — in a good way.

“47 Meters Down” — Mandy Moore, Claire Holt, directed by Johannes Roberts

A diving expedition turns into a life or death situation when the observation cage carrying two sisters (Mandy Moore, Claire Holt) plunges uncontrollably to the ocean floor. Fearing for their life in this shark-infested abyss, the two must find a way to survive. Obviously this one is intense and the performances are convincing. But “47 Meters Down” has way too many oh-come-on moments to bear.

Skip it. By the end, silliness prevails over suspense. Rent “Open Water” instead.
