Music Legend Aretha Franklin Gravely Ill: Report

The 76-year-old singer from Detroit is an American music legend and songwriter with dozens of her songs topping Billboard's list.

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- American music legend Aretha Franklin, also known as the Queen of Soul, is "seriously ill," according to multiple reports. The Associated Press cited a source close to the singer and songwriter who said "she was ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest up."

US Weekly also cited a source who said Franklin's "body is breaking down."

"Franklin 'is hanging in there, but recovery is not looking likely.' She is currently 'comfortable at home,'" US Weekly reported.

The 76-year-old singer from Detroit is an American music legend and songwriter with dozens of her songs topping Billboard's list. She's won 18 Grammy Awards, has been inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame, as well as, the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Rolling Stone magazine also named Franklin one of the "Greatest Artists of All Time."
