HOLLYWOOD, CA โ€” Singer and actress Olivia Newton-John has died at the age of 73. Even though Newton-John was a longtime resident of Australia, her work has been intertwined in American pop culture for decades.

Newton-John's husband, John Easterling, took to Instagram and Facebook to announce the news.

โ€œOlivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. We ask that everyone please respect the familyโ€™s privacy during this very difficult time,โ€ he wrote on Monday.

The superstar was at her ranch in southern California during her time of passing.

During the 1970s and into the early 1980s, Olivia Newton-John had amassed 14 top 10 singles in the United States alone, won four Grammy awards and starred in the films "Grease" and "Xanadu." Although the latter movie bombed at the box office, it was actor Gene Kelly's last role and spawned the chart-topping song "Magic." Her duet โ€œYouโ€™re the One That I Want,โ€ which she sang with John Travolta in "Grease," sold more than 15 million copies.

Travolta took to social media to express his grief, saying โ€œMy dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!โ€

Other highlights from Newton-John's career include "Please Mr. Please," "Have You Never Been Mellow," and the Grammy-winning ballad "I Honestly Love You." Her racy single "Physical" was No. 1 for 10 weeks in 1981 and won the title of Billboard's song of the year.
