Alas! The wait is over. The much anticipated live-action remake of Disney's 1991 "Beauty and the Beast" is here. Starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast, the movie presents a 21st century version of the princess who is empowered and certainly not a damsel in distress. Check out Patch’s full review of all the charm and enchantment .

See it. Although it doesn't have the luster of the animated version, "Beauty and the Beast" remains true to the original fairy tale and is a breath of fresh air for generations of moviegoers to come.

"T2 Trainspotting" — Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner, Robert Carlyle, directed by Danny Boyle

Remember the junkies and drunkards from the first "Trainspotting"— Ewan McGregor (Renton), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle)? Well, they're back 20 years later for another round of heroin's euphoria. Also returning is director Danny Boyle who made the original movie one of the most iconic British movies of all time. He's created a delightful montage of music, dialogues and thrilling chase scenes—but the movie’s run time (117 minutes) is a bit too long.

See it. Nostalgia reigns in "T2," so just be sure to watch the original first in order to fully appreciate these new doses of dark comedy.

"The Belko Experiment" — John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, Adria Arjona

A quasi-remake of "Battle Royale?" That's exactly what "The Belko Experiment" offers. Only this time, instead of high schoolers forced to eliminate each other by an oppressive government, it is the employees of Belko Corp. battling it out for survival. It turns business into a slaughter extravaganza. The cast is great, but the deep-seated satire that director Greg McLean and writer James Gunn are trying to present is muddy to say the least.

Skip it. This is not for the faint of heart, and I'd guess many moviegoers will walk out. As an alternative, pop the popcorn and watch "Die Hard" or "Don't Breathe."
