Police Nab Wrong Guy In Hollywood Stabbing

A homeless man arrested on suspicion of stabbing a clerk at a Hollywood gift shop, was released after police determined he isn't the slasher

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A homeless man arrested in a Hollywood gift shop stabbing attack was released after investigators determined he was "not the correct suspect," police said Tuesday.

The crime occurred about 10 a.m. Saturday in the 6600 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Later that day, police arrested 22-year-old Tysean Gaston, who was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

Gaston, who had been held on $1 million bail, was released on Monday afternoon.

"He was not the correct suspect," said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison.

Investigators were continuing their efforts to find the man, who -- according to witnesses -- stabbed a store employee in the arm upon being told move away from the business because he was smoking marijuana.
