Radio Personality Ellen K to Receive Walk of Fame Star May 10

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor radio personality Ellen K with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 10 in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.

“The Chamber is proud to honor a radio personality who has become known nationally and around the world by keeping us all informed on what is happening in the world of entertainment,” stated Leron Gubler, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Born at the Stanford University hospital, Ellen K, the youngest of six Norwegian children, grew up in a quiet, academic environment-very different from the one she thrives in today with multi-media mogul Ryan Seacrest. 

Ellen's father, who earned his PHD at Stanford University, accepted a job as a Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University and moved the family to Indiana.  At 4, Ellen began competitively swimming which led to "early morning" practices.  Those early mornings would later prove useful training for "early morning radio”.  While captain of the swim team and home coming queen, Ellen showed her multi-tasking mindset early-on by also accepting an internship at a local radio station after graduating from Purdue University. From the moment Ellen began talking to listeners on air about their lives— she was hooked!

Ellen was recruited to radio jobs in San Diego, then San Francisco, and finally to the #1 radio market in the world-Los Angeles & KIIS FM. Clear Channel's "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" is heard worldwide on 175+ affiliates in the US and 15 foreign countries. The daily syndicated radio show is also heard on the rapidly expanding iheartradio app and XM/Sirius. (The full station affiliate map is detailed at ellenk.com).

From landing a gig on-air with legendary Rick Dees and being a part of 12 Billboard & Marconi Radio Awards at KIIS FM, to partnering with  Ryan Seacrest, Ellen recognizes the invaluable support of friends, family, co-workers, management and key celebrities that opened doors along the way to her exciting career.

Ellen’s relaxed manner in front of a camera and behind a microphone has also landed her many assignments on TV. Ellen had the privilege of working alongside Wayne Brady as his on camera sidekick/announcer on the Emmy award winning "Wayne Brady Show" on ABC, all while holding down a correspondent role for Extra and continuing "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" every morning on KIIS FM. 

Ellen’s multimedia approach continues today as she hosts  "Ellen K’s Inside Hollywood" daily on KTLA, serves as the announcer for the Grammys on CBS, the SAG Awards on TNT& TBS, "A Home for the Holidays" on CBS, cameos on “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “Days of Our Lives“ as well as the Emmy nominated "Oscar Red Carpet Live" special on KTLA.

Currently, you can hear Ellen as the narrator for the UK smash hit "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" and the new "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" on TLC.

Ellen K is showcased weekly as the host and executive producer of a “Hollywood Preview & Daily Deal” program at velvetredtv.com and can be heard “on demand” with a fresh "60 Seconds of Sleaze” audio alert served to the smartphone (a joint venture with the Global Traffic & Audio Alert Network).

Finally, Ellen signed-on to author a book slated for release in 2013 that dramatizes the multi-tasking duties of a working mom in Hollywood titled, "The MommyWood Mindset"

Ellen is involved with the following charities:  John Wayne Cancer Institute, CHOC Children’s Hospital, Pediatric AIDS Foundation, APLA and "Our Journey", an African Children’s relief fund.
