Woman Accused Of Shooting Security Guard Near Hollywood High

LAPD arrested a 28-year-old woman during a "high risk" traffic stop Wednesday night.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Police have arrested a 28 year old woman accused of fatally shooting a security guard Tuesday morning in Hollywood. Stephanie Valle was arrested Wednesday night around 8:40 p.m. during a "high risk" traffic stop, after investigators identified the vehicle as being involved in the incident.

Valle was charged with murder and remains in jail on $2 million bail.

According to a statement released by LAPD, the victim, 24-year-old Joshua Brown, was working as a security guard when the incident happened. Police said he was inside his own car when he noticed potential theft suspects, and followed them to the area of Orange Drive and Sunset Boulevard, near Hollywood High School.

Once there, police say he got out of the car and confronted Valle, where he was fatally shot.

An earlier statement from LAPD said Brown then got back in his car while the woman fled the scene. Paramedics responded and took the 24-year-old to a local hospital, where he died.

Witnesses said they had seen a man and woman arguing before the shot was fired.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call West Bureau Homicide investigators at 213-382-9470.
