- The First Day Accessibility Walk is on! Participate by meeting with the group at the Bolsa Chica State Beach Visitor Center on Saturday at 4 PM. You can park for FREE if you let the kiosk attendant know that you are a part of the Walk. Best of all, this walk is open to individuals “of all abilities.” Treat yourself to a great first sunset of the year! (FB)
- A shoutout to Frank and Joan Randall! Thanks to their tremendously generous donation of $50 million to the Nature Conservancy, we now have a Tehachapi Preserve. We learned Friday that the space incorporates 72,000 acres, which makes it the “largest nature preserve in California.” (Newport Beach Independent)
- Another shoutout goes to Caleb Jackson and Guadalupe Garcia! Both have graduated from Weber State University Monday. Jackson earned a Master of Science and Garcia finished a Bachelor of Science. Congratulations! (HBN)
- The TIP volunteer training academy is starting on Thursday. If you believe that you have what it takes to become a Trauma Intervention Program of OC volunteer, apply to the program and attend the sessions. Upon completion, you will have the ability to provide the type of emotional first aid that survivors of traumatic events need. (TIP Orange County)
- Friday’s COVID report warns that hospitalizations in the OC doubled in a week. A UC Irvine epidemiologist noted that they hadn’t “seen any infection spread as rapidly as the Omicron variant is spreading now.” Ambulance diversion is suspended. According to the County’s Health Care Agency, 87% of those hospitalized are unvaccinated. So far, Huntington Beach has a relatively low number of infections compared to other places in the OC. As of Thursday, there were 1.29 deaths and 78.96 cases per 1,000 people. (Voice of OC)

- A Park Huntington neighbor is looking for a wheelchair-friendly room to rent. (Nextdoor)
- Can you recommend a reliable handyman to a Glenmar West neighbor to replace a wooden threshold and ground an electric outlet? (Nextdoor)
- Our Los Amigos neighbor lost a dog off 60 East and Pipeline. He is scared and not easy to catch. Please do not approach. He is a nervous, big 170lb dog, white and brown. If you see him, reach out to: 714-264-5830 or 909-762-5035. (Next door)
- A Seabridge neighbor needs to get rid of a couch. It’s a tan L space couch, pretty good size, sits 4 comfortably! (Nextdoor)
