- The sirens you heard Saturday were associated with a high-speed pursuit. Someone stole a gray four-door vehicle and then tried to get away from the PD. The chase was headed toward San Diego. (NBC)
- If you dread cooking a full Thanksgiving meal, the Orange Coast College has your back. It is called the Thanksgiving Feast and Bake sale. Place your orders for an entire dinner or just some sides by Wednesday. The culinary students will get to work, prepare your meal, keep you out of the kitchen, and earn credits. Return on November 24 between 12 and 2 p.m. to pick up your goodies. A complete meal with all the trimmings costs $135; just the turkey costs $60. (Coast Report)
- Compiled in October and finally released, the Best Nursing Home report by US News is out. It ranks the facilities in various categories. For Huntington Beach, the Beachside Nursing Center at 7781 Garfield Avenue had a “high performing” listing. (US News)
- On Saturday, the Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and HB PDs were at ExperTec. Officers at 7680 Talbert Avenue assisted drivers with a catalytic converter etch. The goal is to protect catalytic converters from theft by making them traceable and therefore unattractive to thieves. (@CostaMesaPD)
- If you’re a fellow wordsmith, there’s a good chance that you or someone you know is participating in NaNoWriMo. The HB library wants to help you. They are hosting a writing session in the Talbert Room at the Central Library. Connect with others who answered the challenge and get over your writer’s block. This event takes place on November 22.
