- A single-engine Cessna made an impressive emergency landing at the beach on Tuesday. The plane took off from Torrance Municipal Airport and landed on the Seal Beach sand at 1 p.m. The two passengers are fine. The plane apparently had engine trouble. (NBC)
- Passersby saw a body in the Santa Ana River Channel on Tuesday. It first caught the attention of people near Hamilton and Victoria. The HBFD recovered the body. The coroner is now trying to determine who the person is and whether the death is suspicious. (HBN)
- There was a fiery crash at Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue on Tuesday. A pedestrian died when hit by a vehicle, shearing a traffic signal pole. Victoria Street was closed between Pomona Avenue and Placentia Avenue. A Wednesday report suggests that the 65-year-old driver from Garden Grove “was driving under the influence of drugs.” (County News, Patch)
- OC students will get more rapid COVID-19 tests. Some 450,000 tests are on order; however, administrators don’t know when they’ll get there. Although the state has bought six million tests, only half of them have been shipped as of Tuesday. (Spectrum News 1)
- Workers at the Families Together of Orange County Community Health Center’s mobile clinic were attacked Thursday. A 43-year-old man became agitated and tried to “force his way into a closed area.” Personnel tried to redirect him, but he “allegedly began punching and screaming ‘murderers’ at the staff members.” It took five people to subdue him and a stun gun to get him to comply with authorities.
