- If you’ve done the double-take when driving past a gas station, you’re not alone. Friday saw long lines of drivers waiting their turns to fill up with Costco gas. The average gasoline price in the OC is now $4.53 per gallon regular, which is the highest it has been since October 2012. Neighboring L.A. County is also feeling the pain with $4.57 a gallon. Costco, with its $3.95 a gallon, is well worth the wait. (KCAL, Gas Buddy)
- The East Garden Grove – Wintersburg Channel Project continues with some bridge closures. Starting today and going until at least Nov. 15, the Edwards Street bridge is closed north of Warner Avenue. Then, starting around Nov. 29, the Springdale Street bridge will close at Warner Avenue until about Dec. 10. (OC Public Works)
- What does it take to stay safe as a FD recruit? One of the tasks is swimming with equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. This training allows them to respond confidently to boat, dock, and structure fires in the harbor environment. (City Manager)
- Are you looking for a way to exercise and donate to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center? One Digital World and Miss Alaska Earth plan to host a Walk for Wildlife Run for Refugees 5K on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. from San Diego’s Embarcadero to the Spanish Landing Trail. Proceeds go to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center and One Digital World, which works on “empowering refugees and asylum seekers worldwide by connecting them with education and equipment to allow them to integrate and become self-reliant in a new culture and country.” (KUSI)
