  1. Officials said Saturday that a pipeline belonging to Oxnard-based DCOR, LLC is being investigated as a possible source of the latest leak affecting the ocean waters off Bolsa Chica Beach. The pipeline is now shut down and “being monitored for additional oiling.” There’s also a boat “patrolling the pipeline to detect any indications of additional discharge of oil.” (LB Post)
  2. There was a gas leak on Wednesday. The HBFD responded to Lake Street between Utica and Springfield. They secured the leak and reopened traffic. (@HBFD_PIO)
  3. OC retail thieves use brute force and booster bags. Just before closing time on Monday, robbers stole $10,000 worth of high-end cosmetics from MainPlace Mall’s JCPenney. They pretended to have weapons. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, retail thieves targeted the Outlets at Orange. They used booster bags, which are “handmade foil-lined bags” that prevent stores’ anti-theft alarms from going off. As one suspect was emptying his booster bag into a minivan, investigators detained him. An hour late, the mall was hit by another thief with a booster bag. He, too, was arrested. (Local OC News, Newsbreak)
  4. Orange County gas prices aren’t going down. In fact, a Saturday report suggests that the average price “rose one-tenth of a cent for the second consecutive day to $4.639.” Even so, it is a half-cent less than a week ago but “$1.451 higher than one year ago.” The cheapest gas in HB is currently at the Costco at 7562 Center Avenue for $4.09 a gallon. From there, it jumps up to $4.15 at surrounding stations. (My News LA, GasBuddy)
  5. Saturday, we reported on the Santa Ana River swift water rescue. However, there were rescues during the last rainstorm a week earlier as well. On Tuesday, rescue crews came to the aid of nine people and two dogs. (Patch, KTLA)
