- Edison HS is making news again. Last Saturday, the school teamed up with Saddleback Church for a drive-thru food distribution. Starting at 9 a.m., volunteers handed out free food for those in need that included bread, fresh produce, dairy products, (milk, eggs, etc.), paper products and canned goods. Church members, students, and parents put on their reflective yellow vests and got busy. (HB News)
- Not to be outdone, Hawes Elementary School is also making news. Located at 9682 Yellowstone Drive, the principal took Friday morning to introduce students to veterans and those serving active duty. With the help of Flipgrid, the learners watched videos and were able to put faces with the term "veteran.” (@hawesprincipal)
- Thursday’s Veterans Day festivities and hot rod show were a success. Not only did it allow car guys (that’s a unisex term) to drool over gorgeous rides, but it also let veterans in roughly the same age groups socialize over a shared hobby. This is of particular importance in light of a study stating that the “impact of COVID-19 on veterans found that one of seven experienced increased distress.” (Spectrum News 1)
- Trader Joe’s sold some chicken products the chain doesn’t want you to eat. A Thursday report notes that stores are recalling “Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders.” Pieces of bone made it into the patties. (Patch)
- Friday’s City Manager’s report includes the warning to be mindful of fire safety during the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. The HBFD produced a video addressing turkey fryer safety. For example, don’t fry the turkey inside! (HB)
