- Do you need sandbags? Pick them up for free at the Warner Fire Station, Edison Community Center, or Public Works Yard. The City announced Monday that they’re open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Just bring your own shovel. (Surf City Break)
- If you are a Hello Kitty fan, like many local high school and college students, you can now stop by Forever 21 and buy branded products. Licensed by Sanrio, the clothing chain, as of Thursday, carries a collection that includes cross-body bags, cropped tees, crew socks, and bodysuits. Stocking stuffers include Hello Kitty nail file sets and eyeshadow palettes. (@hellokitty, Forever 21)
- Council member Erik Peterson announced Monday that he will run for the California Board of Equalization. He has nailed down the endorsements of United States Representative Michelle Steel and former Congress person Dana Rohrabacher. As noted by insiders, “Peterson understands the struggles of Californians, who are overtaxed and overregulated in every aspect of daily life.” (HB News)
- On Friday, the Student Senate and Executive Board of the Associated Students of Orange Coast College resolved to ask the Coast Community College District to “require vaccine exempt students to begin COVID-19 testing the week of Jan. 24.” At this time, the testing requirement begins on January 31. The resolution is supposed to support “the Coast Federation of Educators and CCCD’s faculty union,” which have asked for earlier testing of students. (Coast Report)
- If you have a hankering for “Czech-inspired pastry filled with fruits, meats and cheese,” we have good news! We learned Monday that the Kolache Factory, which already has a branch in Tustin, has come to HB at 6502 Bolsa Avenue. The bakery reports no staffing issues, which means great customer service!
