  1. There was a carjacking with a subsequent 45-minute standoff on Saturday. If you followed the HBPD’s somewhat cryptic Twitter post, this was what prompted the warning to stay away from Goldenwest Street and Deep Harbor Drive. Officers were finally able to persuade the suspect to surrender. (The OCR/potential pay wall)
  2. On Wednesday, the OC Board of Education voted 3-1 on a resolution that opposes federal probes by the Department of Justice. The U.S. Attorney General had previously announced that the office intends to deal with the “rise in criminal conduct towards school personnel.” A board member reasoned that “we have an attorney general attacking parents and potentially targeting them.” Some parents now fear that they may be reported to the Department of Justice. 3. Ocean View High School is hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, November 16. Because the donations take place in the UC Irvine Blood Mobile, you need to set up an appointment. Slots range from 8 AM to 3 PM. To sweeten the deal, donors receive a gift certificate for Baskin-Robbins, or a Target gift card, or an In-N-Out gift card. (OVHS)
  4. Although headquartered in Houston, TX, tween fashion powerhouse “francesca’s” has chosen Huntington Beach as the backdrop for its fashion show. It takes place on Wednesday and features music from “Emeline along with famed TikTok celebrities Madison Lewis, Indiana Massara, and Brooklyn Queen as models.” The target shopper is “a digital native millennial mom with Gen Alpha kids.” Translated into English, this means that these are adults born between 1980 and 1995 and their kids born between 2010 and 2024.
