It looks like there was another swatting incident. Also, fishing businesses may continue to sit on their hands until December 1. Finally, Costco is still the cheapest place to buy gas.

  1. Was Westminster High School a victim of “swatting” on Wednesday? The PD received reports that there was an active shooter near Goldenwest Street, “near the 405 and the Westminster Mall.” SWAT rolled but couldn’t find any evidence of a shooter. (Patch)
  2. Remember the fishing ban that was instituted right after the oil spill? Initially, there was a plan to let fishing merchants continue their trade on November 15. However, officials pushed this date back on Tuesday. Right now, they are looking at December 1. (CBS)
  3. GasBuddy reports that Costco at 7562 Center Avenue is still the cheapest gas in town, with $3.99 per gallon of regular. You can also buy gas for this amount at ARCO on 17502 Goldenwest Street. If you hit Berri Brothers at 16621 PCH, the cost goes up to $4.09. (GasBuddy)
  4. Council Member Dan Kalmick is taking a victory lap. Along with Mayor Carr and Council Member Moser, he was able to assist a resident in NW HB. Drivers kept “blowing through a stop sign.” On Tuesday, they had two flashing stop signs installed. (@DanKalmick)
  5. Robyne’s Nest works with at-risk and homeless high school students. On Monday, the organization announced that Lisa Farmer, the former Volunteer Manager, would be stepping into the role of Assistant Executive Director. On Tuesday, the group announced the start of its $30K in 30 Days Campaign. On Wednesday, Curbside Storage at 18262 Enterprise Lane stepped up to the plate and donated the use of a container for the holiday season! (@robynesnest)
