The HBFD made quick work of a structure fire on Harbour Lane. Also, you might not have your trash picked up. Finally, the PD arrested a firebug who operated around 1st Street.

- The HBFD received a report of a structure fire Friday. Located at 16544 Harbour Lane, firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly got the fire under control. A final update to the situation notes that they were able to contain the fire to one unit. (@HBFD_PIO)
- Sanitation workers in HB and Anaheim went on strike Thursday. More than 400 Republic Services employees are no longer providing trash collection services for some residents and businesses. Affected areas are those near the 57 Freeway, as well as from the 55 Freeway to Imperial Highway. Residents should continue to take out their bins and leave them. HB officials say that “if warranted, the city will implement plans for alternate trash disposal options and announce those plans.” (OC Register/potential paywall)
- On Tuesday, the HBPD arrested a man who allegedly had been setting at least seven residential trash bins on fire. The suspect is a 42-year-old Barstow resident. Affected households were located “between 1st and 7th streets.” (Daily Pilot)
- Congratulations to local resident Linda Chavez-Gaffney! She was initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. The Society recognizes “excellence in all academic disciplines” and has been in existence since 1897. (HB News)
- The man who used to sell Trump hats in various HB locations was one of the people unlawfully entering the Capitol in January. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 35 days in prison. He agreed to plead guilty to “charges of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.” He has to surrender by January 3 to begin serving his sentence. (Ceng News)
