  1. If you have a bah-humbug Halloween attitude, you need to go on a haunted Huntington Beach tour. A local medium offers some insight into places that could get you in the mood. A case in point is the area around PCH near Main Street, where the Golden Bear used to be. The Huntington Beach Pier, particularly its far end, is another option for possible ghostly encounters. 2. There’s an onion recall, and it also affects meal delivery services! They include HelloFresh and EveryPlate. Tracing the affected onions takes you to ProSource Produce of Idaho and Keeler Family Farms of New Mexico that imported the onions from Chihuahua, Mexico. “According to the FDA's website, between 11 and 40 illnesses have been reported in California.” (Patch)
  3. Local politicians and their handlers are casting a wary eye on the recent outcome of the recall election involving Governor Gavin Newsome. While he managed to hold on to his job, his numbers looked worse in HB than they did before. Being smack in the middle of CA-48, 52% of voters favored the recall. Add the redistricting that will be done before the 2022 elections, and there’s real fear that if Republicans can get a higher voter turnout, they might move the district to the right. (MSN)
  4. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Facebook’s ears should be burning by One World Universe Inc.’s recent steps. Citing the company’s visionary step to change the official name to “Meta,” the HB-based business intends to follow suit. “One World Universe has secured the domain/url OneWorldMetaverse.com and is currently in negotiations and weighing different business models, platforms and ideas on how to participate in this potentially lucrative Metaverse market sector,” the CEO noted. 5. The Fall Pee Wee and Junior Soccer seasons have finished! More than 100 children between the ages of three and eight participated. Over the course of six weeks, they developed soccer skills through drills and games. If your little one missed out this time around, there is a Pee Wee Basketball program starting in January 2022. “Call the Edison Community Center at 714-960-8870 for more information.” (City Manager’s Report)
