  1. The City got its second Mobi-mat, and it is installed! After installing its first mat in May, this one is twice as long. You can find it south of Huntington Street and PCH, next to disabled parking. It’s across from the hotels, on the south side of the pier. This is great news for anyone using a wheelchair or pushing a stroller on the beach. (@HBSurfCityUSA, @CityofHBPIO)
  2. They called it a bomb cyclone and talked about an atmospheric river. But how much rain did HB actually get on October 25? The latest measurements suggest that we got 0.23 inches, which is better than Long Beach with just 0.13 inches. Still, it isn’t enough to ease coming drought regulations. (Patch)
  3. The Huntington Beach Art Center is inviting the public to attend the 8th Annual Artist Council Exhibition. It will run from November 20 to December 18, 2021. Visit the Art Center’s Project Room. By the way, if you are an Artist Council member and have not yet submitted your project, you have until October 29 to do so. (Huntington Beach Art Center)
  4. HMC Architects has mobilized its nonprofit organization, the Designing Futures Foundation (DFF). This group gave out three micro grants to the Surfrider Foundation, California Coastkeeper Alliance, and Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy. Also, the DFF will match employee donations to these organizations. (HMC Architects)
  5. Another donation came from the Bolsa Chica Conservancy on October 20. It went to the HB Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center and the HB Wetlands Conservancy. This generous donation helps with the rescue and rehabilitation of local wildlife affected by the oil spill. (cityofhb)
