  1. If you’re planning to take a flight out of SoCal, be aware that the airlines are dealing with COVID-related staffing problems. As a result, there are also quite a few flights that had to be canceled. As of Sunday morning, there were 87 cancellations at LAX. John Wayne Airport saw 18. (KFI)
  2. Diego is back! This is the Chihuahua that was stolen while waiting for its owners in their truck. We learned Saturday that the dog came back “dirty, three pounds lighter” and apparently dehydrated on Christmas Eve. After “some food, water, a warm bath, shampoo, and lots of hugs,” the doggie is fine again. The person who brought Diego home received a $1,000 reward. (OC Register/paywall)
  3. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Spill Prevention & Response confirmed Saturday that for the latest oil sheen observed off the coast, the “responsible party has been identified as DCOR LLC.” The pipeline is known by its number designation, 0919. It originates from Platform Eva. The plan is for divers to inspect 0919 on Tuesday. (Patch)
  4. The number of COVID-related hospitalizations in the OC is increasing. As of Sunday, the number went up by 27. Of these, six were admitted to intensive care units. (Spectrum News 1)
  5. If you’re wondering what to do with the Christmas tree, Republic Services has the answer. It will pick it up between December 27 and January 7 on the same day as your regularly scheduled trash collection; just put it next to your trash can. It’ll also take flattened cardboard boxes. By the way, trees taller than six feet need to be cut into sections. Since flocked trees cannot be recycled, it’s up to you to have them picked up as a bulky item call. (FB)
