Killer whales are making an appearance after a two-year hiatus. The City Council is mulling over the purchase of a 17251 Beach Boulevard motel. Finally, the HBPD announces more DUI enforcement.

The cheapest gas you can buy is at the Costco at 7562 Center Avenue for $4.15 a gallon. The 76 Station at 16971 Goldenwest Street sells it for $4.29, and the World Station at 8972 Adams Avenue charges $4.35.

  1. The killer whales are back! Last seen around OC beaches in 2019, whale-watchers saw a pod on Thursday. Six orcas put on quite a show for the delighted passengers on board the Dana Pride. (Patch)

The City Council agenda for Tuesday will include labor negotiations with the HB Municipal Teamsters, anticipated litigation, existing workers’ comp litigation, and the announcement of the incoming mayor. One of the items discussed at the last meeting was the purchase of the motel at 17251 Beach Boulevard for $4.21 million to be part of the city’s contribution to the Homekey Program. (Legistar, 2)
  3. On Friday, the HBPD arrested a man who was passed out behind the wheel of his car. The vehicle was facing the wrong direction. The PD would like you to know that “increased DUI enforcement is happening now.” (@HBPoliceDept)
  4. On March 31, a 45-year-old man allegedly carried out a mass shooting at United Homes in Orange. At that time, he was shot in the head by police officers who responded to the scene.
