  1. A 69-year-old woman experiencing homelessness has scored a significant victory on Monday. After having been cited and put on trial for repeatedly sleeping in a Fountain Valley park, the jury found her not guilty. Her attorney argued that camping in the park helped her avoid a greater evil. Prosecutors now suggest that other people camping in public parks can use the same defense if ticketed. (KTLA)
  2. Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa is the place to be for Latinx students. As reported on Saturday, the Campaign for College Opportunity recognized the school as the 2021 “Equity Champion for Excellence in Transfer.” OCC representatives are proud that their efforts at “facilitating transfer for Latinx student populations to four-year programs of study” have been recognized.   3. The Huntington Beach Veterans Day ceremony and car show are on! Scheduled for Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., event venues are the Pier Plaza for the opening ceremonies, and the city beach parking lot across the street from the Hyatt Regency and The Waterfront. There are vendors selling food, stages featuring local bands, and more. Attendance is FREE! (Surf City USA)
  4. Amazon just bought a 640,000-square-foot office space in Brea. According to a Monday report, the 30-acre property went for $165 million, which is about $258 per square foot. In comparison, the prior owners paid $171 a square foot for the venue. (The Real Deal)
  5. How much does it cost to live in HB when you aren’t Amazon? As of August, the average rent is $2,381, and the average apartment size is 874 square feet. The most expensive neighborhood to rent is downtown, with an average rent of $2,669. In contrast, Adams is the least expensive with a cost of $2,048. (Rent Café)
