  1. Was the recently ruptured pipeline already damaged and leaking? The Cost Guard suggests the pipeline “may have been damaged as far back as a year ago.” This means that the job to check for possible anchor drags expanded to include the last 12 months. The last time that the Coast Guard can confidently say the pipeline was intact was October 2020. “Underwater video shows the pipeline is covered in mature plant and sea life for it to have been recently moved.” (CBS)
  2. Poseidon Water has weighed in on the oil spill. Calling it “a man-made tragedy that must never happen again,” the company is “coordinating with local officials” and will continue to offer assistance. You may remember the company for being in the news because of controversy surrounding the Poseidon's Huntington Beach desalination plant. (PR Newswire)
  3. You don’t have to worry about the air quality. Sampling done at 12 sites along the coastline show as being “within background levels and below California health standards for the pollutants measured.” Of course, you should still stay away from the affected beach areas. (OC Breeze)
  4. Zankou Chicken celebrated its Huntington Beach grand opening on September 8. Since then, it has expanded its offerings. Right now, you can visit the location at 18541 Beach Boulevard, or order delivery from DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. (Facebook, Zankou Chicken)
  5. Sack Properties sold its Sendero Huntington Beach property to E&S Ring Management Corporation. The property, located at 8945 Riverbend Drive, has 152 units and sold for $70,010,000. “Sendero fits with our trend of owning and managing garden-coastal-style luxury apartment complexes,” E&S Ring noted.
